10 Basic Must-Haves in your closet1:31 PM
You go shopping, you enter the store and see all these amazing pieces that are out of this world and you think they will really make a statement and you're dying to have them. You take a ton of them into the fitting room and you end up buying almost all of it. You're really excited about all your new acquisitions, you get home, you put it all in your closet and you just want it to be the next day so you can wear your new clothes for the first time. Two or three months later, some of the "amazing" things you bought are still hanging in your closet with the price tag still on them. I know I've been there and I'm sure you've been in this situation at least a couple of times.
Before you go spending a large sum of money on these statement pieces that will probably go out of fashion really fast and that you'll wear once or twice if you're lucky because you can't find anything to wear them with, you have to build yourself a basic wardrobe.
Jeans have to fit you perfectly. You don't want them to be so tight you can't breathe, but you don't want them to be baggy either. I would go for a pair of skinnies or a boot cut. By all means, avoid flared jeans, they are so difficult to pull off.
White t-shirts are so useful! Wear them with jeans and a cute blazer, with a skirt, shorts... with anything at all! If you think your outfit looks too basic, wear a statement necklace or a colorful blazer. Also, tees and tank tops in every color come really in handy to mix and match.
Even if you live in a place where it's warm all year long and you just get a couple of cold days a year like me, you need a coat. I always suffer during winter because I don't have any warm outerwear. I'm always telling myself, why would I buy myself a coat if I will wear it two times a year at the most? The answer: because otherwise you will freeze like you do every year in Christmas and New Years. 2014 resolution: invest in a classic black coat before winter.
