Oscars 2016: Best and Worst Dressed

9:49 PM

I've always loved watching the Oscars. Between all the amazing fashion wee see on the red carpet and in the after parties and the super talented people who attend the show, I don't know what it is, but the Oscars are amazing. This year's show was a little different than what I 'm used to. I think it was great that Chris Rock supported people of color so much and he was truly hilarious. But for me, though, the best host will always be Ellen Degeneres.

I'm so happy that Leonardo DiCaprio finally won his first Oscar. I think he truly deserved it. He's performance in The Revenant was outstanding. If you haven't watched the movie, I really, really recommend it. Also, I'm so excited that Alejandro González Iñarritu won for the second time in a row, he's so talented and I'm proud to say that we have some real talent in Mexico!

Anyway, without further adue, let's talk about fashion!! And as always, let's begin with the best dressed.

Best Dressed

1. Cate Blanchett in Armani Privé

This woman is unbelievable. Aside from being an amazing actress, she's always wearing the best dresses on the red carpet, she always brings her A game. This incredible dress by Armani Privé really did it for me. The color is amazing and goes perfectly with her skin tone. Also, the styling is perfect. The earrings make a statement but they never stop being elegant, as well as her bracelet. And the hair and makeup are natural and chic. Amazing. She looks perfect.

2. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture

Jennifer Lawrence always looks great on the red carpet too. Of course she was wearing Dior and boy, did she own it. I really love this gown, I love how it's sheer but it doesn't look tacky at all. Not many people can pull something like that off and remain chic. Her hair looks so pretty like this and the makeup is completely natural, letting the dress do all the talking. Perfect Oscars look.

3. Saoirse Ronan in custom Calvin Klein

Sequins will always do it on the red carpet, always. This dress looked amazing on her, it really contrasted with her skin and the color is just perfect. Also, I think that it was really cute that she wanted to wear green to represent Ireland at the Oscars. Can you see how light her eyes look?

4. Naomi Watts in Armani Privé

One more perfect Armani Privé gown. I think it's one of the best labels on the red carpet every award season, don't you? This dress was giving me major mermaid vibes when I saw it. Can you see how the pattern almost looks like scales? What about the color thought? It's unbelievable. Styling? Just perfect. Great statement necklace that doesn't take your eyes off the dress and a really bold red lip. I'm obsessed.

5. Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell

First of all, I can't believe Gaga is in my best dressed list, when last year she was on the worst dressed list (click here to see it). She wore pants and managed to look fabulous. I loved this design, she kept it elegant and chic while still looking like Lady Gaga. I think she really brought that Hollywood glamour to the table. The hairstyle goes perfect with the...jumpsuit? What do you call this?
What did you think about her performance? She was such an incredible voice, she gave me chills. Kudos for standing up for the sexual abuse victims!

Worst Dressed

5. Alicia Vikander in custom Louis Vuitton

Twitter went crazy with this look. They all said she looked like Belle from Beauty and the Beast and there were tons of memes about it. But really, this dress didn't do it for me. I think it's very different from what Louis Vuitton normally does, and also I don't think the color was appropriate for the occasion. It was a very ugly yellow, in my opinion. Also, you might not see it much in this image, but she needs to chill with the fake tan. She looked like a carrot.

4. Reese Witherspoon in Oscar de la Renta

I hated everything about this look. This purple matte color is terrible, the cut is not flattering at all... and what is going on in the boob area? It looks like Reese just decided to wrap herself in tissue paper.

3. Mindy Kalling in Elizabeth Kennedy

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Bad color combination, too tight, wrinkly, bad cut... just a terrible choice.

2. Kate Winslet in Ralph Lauren

I just can't believe an Oscar nominee showed up in this. I had never seen such an ugly dress in my life. A friend of mine said she looked like an oil spill in the middle of the ocean and I completely agree. I don't know what she was thinking. Thank god she didn't win and didn't have to go on stage. Not flattering whatsoever.

1. Kerry Washington in Atelier Versace

It's no secret that I hate everything Kerry Washington wears. This was taking it too darn far, though. What is this even? What would make you think "Oh! I want to look like a mix of a greek person and a gladiator at the Oscars"? Nothing! This woman really needs to start taking fashion advice from Olivia Pope. Like pronto.

Vanity Fair After Party

I'm sharing with you my favorite looks from the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party because I saw some amazing dresses that really ought to be shared!

Jennifer Lawrence in Alexander Wang

Emily Ratajkowski in Steven Khalil

Taylor Swift in Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture

Selena Gomez in Louis Vuitton

Rachel McAdams in Naeem Khan
This was my absolute favorite one.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my choices? Who were your best and worst dressed? What did you think about the Vanity Fair After Party dresses?
