April Showers: How To Dress For Rainy Spring Days9:00 AM
Spring is usually a time to wear skirts and shorts and clothes for warm weather. But this thing called crazy weather sometimes messes that up. We start getting rainy days and colder days in which it's not appropriate to wear skirts. So in this post I will show you how to dress for cloudy/rainy spring days and how to wear denim on denim.
In this outfit I'm wearing two trends that are major right now: braids and denim. Denim jackets come to the rescue in these rainy spring days, when it's not cold enough to wear a sweater, but it is chilly enough to need to cover yourself up.
"Don't wear denim on denim" used to be a fashion rule. Well, it's a fashion rule that needs to be broken. Denim on denim looks awesome when done right. You can experiment with different colors shades of denim. For example for this outfit I chose to combine dark and light denim. Personally, I don't love to wear the same shade of denim in two pieces on the same outfit. But that's just my personal taste.
When it's only a cloudy day, like it was for me when I wore this outfit, you can wear any kind of shoes you want. Here I'm wearing my favorite pair of open heels by Steve Madden. But if you're having a wet day, you can wear this exact same look with either sneakers or ankle rain booties. What do you think about that?
Like I mention in a lot of my posts, accessories are super important if you want to look more put together and more fashionable. Since I was wearing a lot of blue already with the denim I wanted to keep the look in neutral colors. I chose this amazing camel bag from Pull & Bear which I've had for about a year now and it's still one of my favorites. I kept it simple with the jewelry by wearing a gold DKNY watch and a minimalistic necklace and pearl earrings.
Berry Trendy tip: If you want a better put together look you only have to follow one really simple tip: roll up the bottom of your jeans. I can't remember the last time I wore jeans without doing just that. They look much better like this when they're not the perfect length for your legs. I did the same thing with the jacket to be a little matchy matchy. It's those little things that can make or break an outfit.
To finish off let's talk about the braids. Braids are totally in right now and I love it. At first I thought I looked like a 5-year-old by wearing two pigtail french braids but I think I've warmed up to the look. I think they look really awesome and will make you look different than you look everyday. There are many braid types you can put your hair in. French braids, dutch braids, waterfall braids and so on and so forth.
What I'm wearing:
Forever 21 jeans (similar)
Madden Girl by Steve Madden heels
Pull & Bear bag
Local store top and jacket
What do you think about this look? What do you usually wear during rainy spring days? Would you try wearing your hair in two braids like me?
