No-Bake Energy Balls

It's so easy to stay in bed all summer while you watch endless seasons of every show on Netflix eating everything you can. If you do this for 2 or 3 months, well let's say it'll lead to some serious unwanted weight gain, right?
Next semester I'm doing my semester abroad in Germany (yay! More on that later!) and because I'm only home for the summer, it's been tough finding a job that wants to hire me only for three months, since summer jobs are not really a thing in Mexico. Anyways, to stay away from boredom, I joined a gym in which I spend far more time than I should. I've been going at an awkward time in the day, around 3 o' clock, because it's when the gym is the emptiest and you can really work out without having to wait hours for the machines to be free to use. In Mexico we have our biggest meal around that time, so I've been going on an empty stomach to exercise which is not good at all. Hence this post I prepared for you...

I've been seeing energy bites and balls around Pinterest for a long time now but I had never actually tried them because I was too lazy to actually bake them. I stumbled upon a couple recipes that required no baking and I decided to try it out ASAP. I checked out a few of them and ended up creating my own recipe.

What you need:

Ripe banana
Rolled oats
Chia seeds
Vanilla extract
Raisins or dried cranberries

When I cook simple things such as these I don't really take measurements into account. So really just kind of go for it. For 6 medium balls I used half a banana, half a cup of rolled oats, about 1 tbsp of honey, about 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract, about 1 tbsp of chia and just a few craisins.

Now all you have to do is smash the banana with a fork, add all the other ingredients and stir it all together. After this, put the mixture in the fridge for 20 to 30 minutes so it sets and it's easier to make into balls.

And that's it! You've got yourself some homemade healthy energy snacks to eat before or after your work out! You can store them in the fridge for up to a week because of the banana, so don't make an enormous batch at once!

What do you think about these balls? Have you tried something like this before? If you do make them take a photo of them upload them to Instagram and tag me (@berrytrendy) so I can see how they turned out!
